Sam Says

Who is Sam? What's with this site?

I love video game news sites, but my issue with them is that they influence your decision by giving you a number at the end of their reviews. You may not realize how much that number at the end of the review influences your decision. If you were just skimming through one of their reviews, you would see that number, and instantly make a decision whether the game was good enough to buy day 1, or wait for a sale. This only hurts the video game industry, especially indie developers in my opinion, and robs you of playing a potentially amazing game.

My ask, is that you approach video game shopping like it is a Friday night, and you are going to Blockbuster to pick out a movie or game. All you have is the box of the potential movie or game to decide if it is something you would want to play. If you never got to experience this, or do not know what Blockbuster is, I am sorry for your loss because it was magic. Thankfully, we have trailers now, everyone knows their likes and dislikes, live a little.

I am a lifelong gamer that enjoys many types of video games. I prefer multiplayer games where I get to play against another human being, but I do also enjoy single player story driven games as well. I have enjoyed playing games since the age of 3. I have been fortunate enough to have experienced every video game era. I have played many different types of games over the decades, and I wanted to share my honest opinions with you. Who knows, maybe you will see something here you have never heard of and thoroughly enjoy it.

I decided on this selection of games because I wanted to pick games that were easily accessible without the need to mess with emulators, or torrents to get the games. Steam is the best PC game store front, and GOG is a distant second place. Everything here is based on the PC versions of the games listed. I personally do not mess with the scam that is home consoles anymore, though most of these games are available on consoles as well.

I made this site to explain briefly why these games are so special to me. I will have a trailer for you for each game. I will provide you with some pros and cons, and where to get the game on that page. I will not give a score at the end. I will let you decide for yourself if it is a game worth playing today (except for Halo 4). Keep in mind, some of these games are over 20 years old. I have thousands of hours playing these games combined. These are some of the most notable games I have played in my life, and I feel everyone should experience them at least once. I hope you enjoy the site, good luck and most importantly, have fun!
