Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection: Sam's favorite fighter
Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection Trailer Trailer
What's special about it?
I have been playing Mortal Kombat ever since it came out. The first 3 hold a special place in my heart. Mortal Kombat was the first of its kind in terms of violence and gore.
Afterall, you know those ESRB ratings you see all over video games? You can thank Mortal Kombat for that. This game has always been a favorite of mine to revisit. In this particular
collection, you get all 3 of first games. The new ones are not bad, but if you grew up playing the originals, you know what I mean when I say that graphics are not everything.
This collection is my favorite Mortal Kombat game because these are the games that introduced all the iconic characters known and loved in franchise today. The new characters are
nowhere near as special the originals in these 3 games. In mortal Kombat it is pretty straight forward, it is a fight to the death between you and the other player as the title implies.
It is a best of 3 rounds, and when a player wins their second round you hear the iconic "Finish Him!", and you can then perform what is called a Fatality. This allows you to violently
kill that other player character. It is the ultimate "F you, I beat you!". These are extremely satisfying when you pull them off. It is usually a decapitation, dismemberment, etc. Things
get more elaborate as the series progresses, with things like animalities in Mortal Kombat 3. There was a lot of public outcries back in the day, again parent who were unable to parent properly,
and so the developers introduced Friendships in Mortal Kombat II. Where instead of doing a Fatality, you do something friendly, like dance, juggle, etc.
Sadly, this is not available on Steam, but GOG is a great DRM free alternative to Steam. The graphics are dated, but it adds to this games charm. This is what arcade games were like
back then. I personally do not think anything of the graphics, but younger friends of mine feel the graphics could be off putting if not for me pushing them to play it, so it will be considered
a "con". Regardless, if you want to play the best arcade fighter from the 90's, you are a fan of fighting games, or all of the above and want something violent and gory then look no further
than this collection, and best of all, someone like me will not make you waste all your quarters at the arcade.
